Back

I’ve been back in Belgium for about a month now and I realize some things are still the same, others have changed completely.

The biggest thing that blew me away were the wind mills in Kortrijk. Those things were just there, up and running, and I only was away for 5 months. Apparently they said yes to the project in the middle of January 2009, and 5 months later those big things were up and running. That went fast, considering this is still Belgium.

Ow, and we have a new prime minister. Yes, I know, I should have known that, but because I couldn’t vote in Denmark, I wasn’t really looking at the political news. I was interested in the European change, but apparently Belgian press thinks that isn’t so important…

Some other things:

  • I really know now who are the most important people in my life. Some people thought that being 5 months away from me was the same as 5 months not talking to me. Even a few of my closest friends acted like that.
  • I know now where I’m good at, and my bad qualities. I had a vague idea about this stuff, but living alone, starting your life again with new people in record-time makes you know yourself a little bit better.
  • Looking for a new school, or at least a new study program is hard when you can’t visit the schools. I had the idea the schools didn’t even want me to study there, because *nobody* answered my emails.
  • Ow, and I *love* cooking! At least when I have a nice kitchen with good material.
